An awesome October at the Apalachicola Library

Pick up a pumpkin AND support the Apalachicola Library, when you buy a pumpkin at their annual ‘Apalach Pumpkin Patch’ ! The ‘Patch’ will open on Monday, October 5th at 3pm and will be open Monday-Friday from 3-6, and Saturday 10-1, until the pumpkins are gone!

The library sells carving pumpkins for $10 each, and all proceeds go towards library programs. These pumpkins are sold annually at the library, located on 80 12th Street, at the intersection with Highway 98. The library wishes to thank their Patch volunteers, the Apalachicola Piggly Wiggly for supplying the pumpkins at cost, and the City of Apalachicola Public Works department for helping maintain the ‘Patch’. Swing by and pick up your pumpkin for a good cause, beginning October 5th!

Need a Halloween costume, or have some to donate? The Apalachicola Library opens its annual Costume Closet on October 1st. People of all ages (even pets!) can shop for a costume and accessories for FREE during the library’s open hours: 10-6 Monday-Friday, and Sundays 12-4pm. No try-ons, please. If you choose to donate, the library accepts clean, gently-used costumes, and bagged accessories. If you have any questions, please call the library at 850-653-8436 for more information.

The Apalachicola Library is eager to offer its first ‘Costume Construction’ classes from 1-3pm on Sunday, October 18th and October 25th. Truthfully, any clothing item can be brought by, with volunteers able to help with sewing, hemming, and minor alterations for FREE. The library will also have its craft supplies available, so that the public can use glue guns, paint, sequins, etc. for FREE.

Finally, each month the Apalachicola Library offers FREE arts and crafts classes every Wednesday at 3:30. This month, all ages are invited to paint a pumpkin on October 7, build mini scarecrows and spiders on October 14, construct a Halloween mask on October 21, and enjoy facepainting with treats on Wednesday October 28th.
