“Translating the language of life” Lecture

April 6, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

  • « Apalachicola Bay Chamber of Commerce Business Luncheon
  • Panhandle Players present 12 Incompetent Jurors »

Most organisms on Earth have neither eyes nor ears and so must decide to run from, eat, or mate with things nearby based on chemical cues. Dr. Mark Hay (Georgia Tech) will discuss how understanding, translating, and using this chemical cross-talk among marine species can provide new and powerful options for curing degradation in marine systems. Coral reefs will be used as an example, but similar interactions probably occur in all communities. 7 pm – 8 pm. Light refreshments will be provided prior to talk.
