George E. Weems Memorial Hospital is a 25-bed critical access hospital that provides vital health care services to the Franklin County community and its visitors. ER & Hospitalized Care The hospital's dedicated emergency department is open 24-hours a day, 7 days a week. Radiology and laboratory services are in close proximity to the ER to allow for direct access to critical diagnostic reports in an emergency situation. The residency trained, board certified physicians who attend the ER, also serve as hospitalists for in-patient hospital care. When a patient needs a little more attention for acute, medical conditions, this physician consistency provides a smooth transition from the ER to the inpatient setting. Outpatient Services To avoid needless travel, radiology services, lab services, and GI procedures are available on an outpatient basis. Rehab The Weems Memorial Rehab program provides short term rehabilitative care in an in-patient setting. Rehabilitative services include physical therapy, speech therapy, and occupational therapy along with 24 hour nursing care and 24 hour in-house access to a physician. Ambulance Weems Ambulance Service, staffed by well-trained paramedics and EMTs, provides excellent pre-hospital care. A helipad is located on-campus to provide rapid transport by air ambulance when a ground ambulance just isn't fast enough. Clinics Weems Medical Center East in Carrabelle and Weems Medical Center West in Apalachicola provide primary care and rotating specialty care services. For added convenience, walk-in appointments are available. At George E. Ascension Sacred Heart Gulf is a 19-bed community hospital located in Port St. Joe, Fla., that opened its doors to patient care in March 2010. Today, we serve Gulf and Franklin counties, as well as the surrounding communities. The hospital features a 24-hour emergency department, as well as inpatient care, surgical services, diagnostic imaging, laboratory testing, inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation and a helipad for our regional air ambulance service to provide rapid transportation of trauma and critically ill patients. The Weems Memorial Healthcare Foundation is the fundraising arm for the Weems Memorial Hospital. The Foundation's goal is to develop philanthropic support of Weems Memorial Hospital and to actively support Weems' desire to serve our community and it's visitors with the most up-to-the minute medical technology and knowledge. The Foundation also seeks to improve the community's quality and quantity of life with the preventative teaching and resources for medical information.
