The Von Wamps with The Bird & The Bear – In Concert
Two popular Nashville duos present a special one-time-only joint concert at Cat Pointe Music in Eastpoint on Sunday, October 7, 2018 at 3:00 pm.
“Songs We Love to Sing, But Don’t Get to Do in Loud Bars”
The Von Wamps are Lou and Lynn Wamp whose talents and artistry is vast: classical, jazz, swing and blues to bluegrass. Lou plays fiddle and dobro, while Lynn plays bass. They are both accomplished mandolin players and Lou was named one of the nation’s Top Dobro Players by “Guitar Journal” magazine. Respectively, Lou and Lynn have toured with nationally known acts “James Monroe & the Midnight Ramblers” and “Blue Moon Rising” and appeared onstage with such artists as John Cowan, Butch Baldassari, Sierra Hull, Bill Monroe, and Ricky Skaggs. Lou is also a prolific songwriter and they are both no strangers to the studio. They collaborate on a number of musical projects these days including bands “Lou Wamp & The Bluetastics” (bluegrass), “Swing Shift” (western swing), “The 9th Street Stompers” (gypsy jazz), and, of course,”The Von Wamps”. Lynn also plays double bass with the East TN Symphony Orchestra.
The Bird & The Bear are a husband and wife Americana music duo. Hailing from Wyoming and Holland, Garry Wood and Mirthe Bolhuis met, fell in love, and started making music in Nashville, TN. They blend folk, bluegrass and pop music; resulting in a uniquely intimate performance. They currently boast over 500,000 plays on Spotify with over 85,000 monthly listeners. When The Bird and The Bear perform together people can’t help but take notice. They treat every note as an intimate moment; not just between the two of them but with the audience. Their sound is a balancing act of vulnerability, sincerity, and effortless musicality. They are currently signed with Rad Records of Nashville. “The Bird and the Bear are full of harmonious vocals, stunning guitar work, and fantastic melodies This dynamic duo uses nothing more than their amazing voices and a guitar to tickle your ear holes and make your feet tap. You can see it in the way these two musicians play how much they enjoy what they are doing and care about the music. It truly makes my ears and heart happy. And as an added bonus, they sound amazing live!”
