“Sir and Miss Annie,” a WW2 romance Book Signing

February 24, 2018 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

  • « Chicago Jazz Pianist Bob Dogan
  • Flutist Sammy Tedder and Adventures of Annabelle »

Alice Tipton LaFleur (aka, my dear wife!) will be signing copies of her recently published book, Sir and Miss Annie, on Saturday, February 24th from 1-3 pm, at Downtown Books and Purl in Apalachicola. The book is a must-read for World War 2 buffs and anyone who enjoys a good old-fashioned love story, so please tell your friends. “Sir” and “Miss Annie” were Alice’s parents, Jim (General James Baird) Tipton, raised in the small Missouri town of Senath, and Ann Livingston Little, of Rochester, New York. The narrative opens with a fascinating account of Ann’s and Jim’s very different family backgrounds and provides charming glimpses into their childhoods, youth, and schooling. But the heart of Alice’s narrative, based on hundreds of wartime diary and journal entries, is the story of how her mom’s and dad’s paths repeatedly crossed in Europe during WW2, where Jim served as a fighter pilot and group commander and Ann as a Red Cross volunteer, and of how their unlikely romance blossomed midst the chaos of war.
