Lunch and Learn – No Shame in Being Different with Charlie Hunter
○ When
○ 8 May 2018
○ 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM
○ Location
○ Apalachicola Center for History, Culture & Art, 86 Water St., Apalachicola, FL
● The Lunch and Learn series is limited seating at the historic Apalachicola Center for History, Culture and Arts, 86 Water Street, Apalachicola, 12 noon, $15 per person, reservations required via the website.
● ‘Plein Air Painting’ conjures images of bright beaches, colorful skies and highly chromatic romps through the color spectrum. Charlie Hunter’s work on the other hand, while still pure plein air, tends toward the monochromatic, relying on value, edges and composition to create a compelling image.
● Let’s talk about other ways of ‘getting to yes’ with a painting; stepping away from the expected painterly touchstones (Sorolla, Zorn, etc.) and embracing the unexpected — photography, illustration and poster design, etc. What are some of the unusual influences in your work, and how do those influences show themselves?
● Charlie might also segue into why his cats hate him. Highly entertaining!
