Last Straw

We describe the vacation rental house located on West 10th Street, Saint George Island (SGI) as off the beaten path but close to the water because it is located on an interior lot one lot north of the primary East/West road that runs the length of the SGI. It is only 2.5 short blocks from the Gulf Front and 1long block from a Bay Front park. The house, built on pilings, has 4 bedrooms (sleeps 10), 2 bathrooms, central open living/dining room and kitchen. The house has 1624 square feet (SF) of heated and cooled living space, 224 SF covered screened porch off two of the bedrooms (one has a king bed and the other has two sets of bunk beds for children), 792 SF deck facing the street which the third bedroom (queen bed) opens on and the fourth bedroom (queen bed) opens onto a smaller 112 SF back deck. There is also a 10 by 28 foot boat or motorhome storage area under the house with about an 11 foot clearance. There is ample off street parking for four or more vehicles.

The Bowery Inn

The historic Bowery Inn Building circa 1900, sat 40 years vacant and then most recently was home to a General Mercantile Business with a room and living quarters upstairs, has returned to its roots with a remarkable renovation completed in 2015. The structure exudes rustic charm from salvaged and reclaimed building material from Apalachicola. Each piece of wood and decor was hand selected and strategically placed to preserve the look and feel of the space as lived in and enjoyed by the generations that came before us. Guests are able to enjoy a genuine "old fashioned" experience without the distractions of televisions or telephones, while being fully WiFi accessible. Viewing of the Apalachicola Bay and the downtown area can be enjoyed from over 1000 square feet of covered deck. A small, open-aired viewing deck above the second floor overlooking the Apalachicola River/Bay is excellent for morning coffee, evening drinks or yoga. The Inn is quietly nestled in the historic downtown Bowery District within walking distance of all shopping and nationally recognized restaurants. The Bowery Inn is a self-catering facility without a permanent on-site operator. The common area of the Inn is for our guest's convenience with a refrigerator and sitting area. A Keurig coffee station and plenty of bottled water and ice are provided. Please respect the quiet times in the common area and outside decks, the building is authentic with little sound insulation. The beautifully hand-crafted stairwell is the only access to the upstairs Inn. With no elevator, unfortunately we are not ADA accessible. Check-in time is 4PM and check-out is 11AM. Forgotten Coast Cottages

Overlooking beautiful Apalachicola Bay, our charming waterfront cottages are located directly next door to a public boat ramp. We’re also just a short drive to some of the area’s favorite restaurants, breweries and other popular destinations. Our property includes three cottages and one RV space. Each of our cottages can accommodate up to six guests and feature a fully stocked kitchen, bathroom, queen bedroom, bunk beds, pull-out couch, flat screen TVs and a back porch overlooking the bay.

Dog Island Beach & Dock Holiday

    See the wilderness on a pristine and private island off the forgotten coast, for a sun drenched beach vacation. Dog Island is the island that time forgot where the fish are huge and plentiful. Drive your boat up to your own 80ft private dock to unload your stuff in front of the home. Very short walk to the best beaches in the country, maybe the world. You can often walk for hours and not see another person. From the deck off the master bedroom, you can see the Gulf of Mexico and if you have the sliding glass doors open, you can hear the waves crashing. Dog Island is accessible by boat or plane only. There is no bridge to the mainland. If you do not have your own boat, there are a number of charter captains that can take you to the island for around $85-$100 each way. We can provide you with a list upon request or we can arrange your charter for you. There are also local boat rental companies where you can rent a boat for around $350 per week. Throw your cast net and catch sweet island mullet from the dock along with black drum, trout, sharks and redfish. The blue crabs are often plentiful right off the dock. You are welcome to use our traps. We have a stand up paddle board (SUP), 3 kayaks ( two child 130lbs max / 1 adult), a canoe (4 Person) , and a small skiff with paddles that you have unlimited access to also. We have beach mats, and camping chairs for the beach. We also have a cart to help you unload your boat or cart your things to the beach. The trash and recycling are down the road. We have Dish TV and a Verizon Hotspot for wifi. The well water is drinkable in an emergency, but bottled water is recommended. Watch the mullet jump while using the BBQ on the deck overlooking the bay. After a day at the beach, rinse off in the outdoor shower while feeling the gulf breeze. The Pelican of Apalach

This unique 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom, 1600 square foot condo is considered first floor but has 16 steps to front door (building is on concrete piers). Located just 2 miles from the center of historic downtown Apalachicola on Apalachicola Bay. Plenty of parking at the rear of the property. Fully stocked kitchen with large island, bar stools arranged for quick meals, easy entertaining or meal prep. All bedding, linens and towels are plush and comfortable. Master bedroom has a memory foam king size bed. The master bathroom has a large tiled shower and double sink vanity. The second bathroom is a shower/tub combo. Bedroom #2 and #3 have Queen size beds. The unit has large closets with lighting and plenty of storage. Each bedroom has a flat screen TV. Cable and WiFi provided if you must stay connected. Ceiling fans in every room and the unit is equipped with a washer and dryer. You should find everything you need, blow dryers, iron/ironing board..... A private covered balcony overlooking the bay, a favorite spot for a cup of coffee or libation while watching the pelicans glide over the tree tops. For additional adventure, we have wonderful friends who are Boat Captains and familiar with these waters. You can schedule an eco tour up the river, the bay or the gulf for an unforgettable dolphin excursion. Built to the latest FEMA code it experienced no wind or flood damage and now is open for guests. The decor and furnishings reflect old time Apalachicola and include custom cypress cabinets, art work by several prominent wildlife artists, antiques and furniture constructed over 70 years ago by the owner’s father, Conrad Meyer. The upstairs loft area is 1600 square feet with two bedrooms and two baths and sleeps two to 8 depending upon your needs. Rent just part or the entire loft. The eastern side has deck facing the morning sunrise over the Apalachicola River and the western side overlooks the downtown commercial area and night life. You don’t have to drive or even walk far to return to your downtown haven at the River’s Edge after a night on the town. Local craftsmen built the 1600sq. ft. house from river recovered "pecky" cypress logs, which sank while being transported down river in the late 1800's.
