SUMMARY:Crooked River Lighthouse Celebrates the 4th Annual Crooked River Park Fest
DESCRIPTION:The Crooked River Lighthouse will host its 4th Annual Crooked River Park Fest on Saturday\, January 31\, in Carrabelle\, FL. From 10 am–4 pm ET\, visitors can enjoy an expanded Country “Super” Market\, a car show from 10 am–2 pm\, and a fish and nature printing activity. The celebration continues from 5–8 pm with a Park Fest Twilight at the Tower\, featuring live music by The Waterbirds\, an outdoor movie\, The Lighthouse Keepers (PG-13) and a glowing bonfire under the beauty of the Snow Moon. Tower climbs\, the Keeper’s House Museum with the 1894 Fresnel Lens\, the gift shop\, and food and desserts will be available throughout the day and evening. Daytime admission is free; Twilight at the Tower admission is $5 for the general public\, free for current members and free for kids 12 and under. Admission and climb tickets are available online at www.crookedriverlighthouse.com/full-moon-events or  in the gift shop. \n  \nThe Country “Super” Market will feature regional arts and crafts\, coastal décor\, jewelry\, bags\, organic produce and eggs\, grass-fed beef\, locally roasted coffee\, hot sauces\, soaps\, candles\, balms\, local books\, tumblers\, and baked treats such as artisan breads\, cinnamon rolls\, cookies\, and candied nuts. From 10 am–2 pm\, the car show will highlight classic\, vintage\, and custom vehicles with prizes and People’s Choice Awards\, with participants from groups including the Forgotten Coast Cruisers and the Antique Automobile Club of America. \n  \nThe Carrabelle Artist Association will offer a Fish and Nature Printing activity where participants can create nautical or nature-inspired artwork on rice paper\, tea towels\, or personal items. The cost is $20\, including materials and instruction. Advance tickets are recommended and are available at the Carrabelle Chamber of Commerce\, the lighthouse gift shop\, or Ticketleap. Climbers enjoy panoramic views from the tallest lighthouse on the Forgotten Coast. Guests can also enjoy free entry to the Keeper’s House Museum to explore several exhibits and the original 4th Order Fresnel Lens. Nautical gifts and souvenirs are for sale in the gift shop. Delicious food and desserts will be available from  Mamaw’s Fresh Catch and the Beacon Bistro. \n  \nAs darkness falls\, visitors can enjoy the beauty of the sunset and the rising Snow Moon during Twilight at the Tower from 5 pm to 8 pm. Live music by The Waterbirds from 5-6:30 will bring a lively mix of reggae\, folk\, jazz\, rock\, blues\, and original songs. Then from 6:30-8 pm visitors can enjoy an outdoor movie\, The Lighthouse Keepers (PG13). These two bold artists weave their separate influences together to create down-home\, smokin’\, sexy blues music at its best. Listeners can feel and relate to the soulful and passionate songs\, as well as their unique renditions of the classics by Muddy Waters\, Etta James\, Big Mama Thorton\, Elmore James and more. This unique\, outdoor festival\, best known for its awesome display of over a hundred colorful\, hanging lanterns\, lights up the night with magic and history at the 1895 maritime landmark. Special activities include amazing music and Bluegrass harmonies by the Bottom Dollar Boys\, the spectacular glow-in-the-dark performance from the Tallahassee State College Dance Company\, special evening tower climbs\, ancient craft demonstrations\, enchanting glowing lantern display\, museum displays\, gift shop\, and delicious food and desserts. Don’t miss this evening of music\, dance\, night tower climbs\, glowing lanterns and yummy food. \nCrooked River Lighthouse is excited to announce the return of the remarkably gifted and entertaining musical group\, the Bottom Dollar Boys. This group has been delighting audiences for over 40 years\, with traditional Bluegrass harmonies and mighty fine pickin’. They’ve been toilin’ in the fields of Bluegrass\, Old Country\, Gospel\, Americana with a pinch of Blues. Now they will be performing their energetic tunes under the glow of over a hundred hanging lanterns. In addition\, the talented Tallahassee State College Dance Company will dazzle guests with their superb choreography\, amazing talent and imaginative use of glow-in-the-dark props and illusions. \nOver a hundred colorful\, hanging lanterns will be on display throughout the grounds of the lighthouse park. Many of these lanterns are truly works of art and have been painstakingly hand-made by the incredible Joan Matey and other gifted local artists. John Pfund and Chris Cauthen will set up the blacksmith forge and Ken Horne will weave rope from local plant fibers as the two ancient crafts demonstrations. Delicious food will be available for purchase from a couple of food trucks and desserts from the Beacon Bistro. SUMMARY:Magical Jellyfish Lantern-Making Workshop
DESCRIPTION:The Crooked River Lighthouse will be offering one of their very popular lantern-making workshops on Friday\, November 7 from 1:00-4:00 pm ET at the Lanark Boat Club at 2364 Hwy 98 East\, Carrabelle\, FL. A wonderful volunteer\, Lisa Keith-Lucas\, will guide attendees in making the very popular Jellyfish Lanterns! These enchanting lanterns are highly admired at Lantern Fest and are fairly easy to make. \n  \nBasic materials\, instruction and hands on help will be provided at the workshop. Attendees are invited to bring any additional materials – ribbons\, beads\, tulle – they may like to really personalize their creations! Cost is $10 a person to cover the cost of materials. Participants will be able to explore their creative side and personalize their lantern to make it uniquely their own.  At the end of the workshop\, attendees will go home with their own lovely\, finished lantern. \n  \nParticipants are encouraged to bring their glowing creations back for Lantern Fest at the Crooked River Lighthouse on Saturday\, November 8 from 6-10 pm\, where the lanterns will add to the festival’s spectacular display. \n  \nSpace is limited. The lighthouse gift shop will also be offering unique nautical gifts and souvenirs. Guests are welcome to bring a chair and relax on the grounds as the color of the sky goes from watercolor hues to evening blues and the first evening star appears. \n  \nThis month’s moon is known as the Corn Moon. “This time of year—late summer into early fall—corresponds with the time of harvesting corn in much of the United States. For this reason\, a number of Native American peoples traditionally used some variation of the name “Corn Moon” to refer to the Moon of September. Examples include Corn Maker Moon (Western Abenaki) and Corn Harvest Moon (Dakota)” (Credit: The Old Farmer’s Almanac). \n  \nThose who wish to climb to the top of the tallest lighthouse on the Forgotten Coast can take part in twilight tower climbs. From the top\, climbers will be rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views\, the colors of the sunset\, and the glow of the rising moon. Evening climbs cost $10 and are scheduled at 15-minute intervals throughout the event. Due to limited availability\, climb reservations are strongly encouraged. Climbers must be at least 44 inches tall. Children under 12 climb free with ticketed adults. DESCRIPTION:The Crooked River Lighthouse will be hosting Coastal Twilight at the Tower on Friday\, August 8 from 8:00-10:00 pm ET in Carrabelle\, FL. This special after-hours event invites visitors to enjoy the gorgeous natural surroundings of St. George Sound and Carrabelle Beach as the sun sets below the horizon and the Sturgeon Moon rises. \n  \nThe moon in August is called the Sturgeon Moon because of the giant lake sturgeon of the Great Lakes and Lake Champlain; this native freshwater fish was readily caught during this part of summer and an important food staple for Native Americans who lived in the region. (Credit: Almanac.com) \n  \nVisitors can tour the Keeper’s House Museum and see the original\, historic Fresnel lens constructed in 1894 in Paris\, France. The lighthouse gift shop will also be offering unique nautical gifts and souvenirs. Guests are welcome to bring a chair and relax as the sky goes from golden sunset hues to evening blues. \n  \nThose who wish to climb to the top of the tallest lighthouse on the Forgotten Coast can take part in twilight tower climbs. From the top\, climbers will be rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views\, the colors of the sunset\, and the glow of the rising moon. Evening climbs cost $10 and are scheduled at 15-minute intervals throughout the event. Due to limited availability\, climb reservations are strongly encouraged. Climbers must be at least 44 inches tall. Children under 12 climb free with ticketed adults. Festivities include a networking social with the Carrabelle Chamber of Commerce\, plus after-hour museum tours\, and evening tower climbs. \n  \nThe evening kicks off with a Social Mixer co-hosted by the Carrabelle Chamber of Commerce and the Carrabelle Lighthouse Association from 6:00 to 7:00 PM at the Pirate Ship. In celebration of the Strawberry Moon\, guests can enjoy strawberries and cream and light refreshments while connecting with fellow members\, local leaders\, and community supporters. The holiday shopping season kicks off with their Country Farmers Market from 9 am-1 pm ET. Guests can continue to Shop Small\, Shop Local at the Lighthouse Gift Shop from 9 am to 5 pm ET. \nThe Country Farmers Market is a delightful showcase of local talent and treasures. Wonderful vendors from the area will be there\, offering a diverse array of goodies that make perfect gifts and treats\, including locally handmade jewelry\, assorted jellies\, organic\, farm-fresh produce\, batch-roasted coffee\, mouth watering cinnamon rolls\, artisan breads and other baked goods\, handcrafted balms\, grass-fed beef\, stunning art and photography\, fresh eggs\, handmade goods and craft items\, unique t-shirts and clothing\, homemade salsas and hot sauce\, and plants to explore. The market is the perfect way to celebrate Small Business Saturday while enjoying local products and a friendly community atmosphere. \nThe Crooked River Lighthouse Gift Shop offers visitors an array of unique nautical and coastal-themed treasures\, making it an ideal place for holiday shopping. SUMMARY:Celebrate the Flower Moon at Crooked River Lighthouse
DESCRIPTION:The Crooked River Lighthouse will be hosting a Moonlit Evening at the Lighthouse event on Sunday\, May 11\, 2025 from 7:00-10:00 pm ET in Carrabelle\, FL. Visitors can enjoy the gorgeous natural surroundings of St. George Sound and Carrabelle Beach under the glow of the sunset and rising Flower Moon. Admission is $10 and climbs are $5. Mothers get free admission and free climbs at this event in celebration of Mother’s Day. \n  \nFor this special Mother’s Day evening\, guests will be enchanted by mesmerizing “Dance of the Butterflies” performances. The event will feature Butterfly and Moth dancers\, including Tallahassee State College (TSC) dancers and the Monarch Butterfly Homeschoolers plus visits from the lighthouse’s very own ethereal Moth Lady. These performers will be surrounded by the soft glow of night-blooming moon flower lights\, creating a magical and unforgettable experience. \n  \nVisitors can experience an after-hours tour of the Keeper’s House Museum and see the exhibit of the lighthouse’s original\, historic Fresnel lens constructed in 1894 in Paris\, France. Guests can browse the unique nautical gifts and souvenirs in the gift shop. Visitors may also enjoy the glowing bonfire in the park. Bring a chair and enjoy the evening. \n  \nFor those brave souls who are bold enough to venture to the top of the tallest lighthouse on the Forgotten Coast\, evening tower climbs are scheduled at 15-minute intervals throughout the event. Climbers will be rewarded with breathtaking views of the bay. Climb reservations are strongly encouraged due to limited availability. Climbers must be at least 44 inches tall and children under 12 (FREE) with ticketed adults.
