Special for this week’s market\, a vintage flea market is being added! \nThis special Market is a perfect time for folks to get started on their spring cleaning or snag some extra-special deals in addition to the locally-made\, hand crafted goods that are available at every market. From thrift-store worthy scores to high-end antiques\, all are invited to bring their much loved treasures to the market to find them a new home. The market welcomes a diversity of products such as home décor\, furniture\, vintage jewelry\, music\, antiques\, tools\, ceramics and kitchenware\, books\, art\, toys\, and gently used clothing. Items just need to be clean and in good condition. \nThe Country Market features wonderful vendors from the area offering a variety of goodies\, including organic farm-fresh produce\, mouth watering cinnamon rolls\, artisan breads and other baked goods\, grass-fed beef\, handmade goods and craft items\, assorted jellies\, stunning art and decor\, fresh eggs\, batch-roasted coffee\, locally handmade jewelry\, handcrafted balms and sprays\, unique t-shirts and clothing\, and homemade hot sauces and salsa and plants. \nGuests are also invited to explore the Keeper’s House Museum and the historic Fresnel lens exhibit and the gift shop from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm ET. This special event invites visitors to enjoy after-hours museum visits\, gift shop browsing\, a glowing bonfire\, tower climbs\, and the gorgeous natural surroundings of St. George Sound and Carrabelle Beach as evening falls and the Flower moon rises. \n  \nAs the season of spring progresses\, the days grow longer and the weather improves\, inspiring plants everywhere to “spring forth” and blossom! By May\, winter’s cold grip has loosened and many plants take the opportunity to produce flowers at this time. Due to this\, May’s full Moon has traditionally been known as the “Flower Moon.” (Credit: The Old Farmer’s Almanac). \n  \nThe Keeper’s House Museum will be open for after-hours tours featuring the lighthouse’s original Fresnel lens constructed in 1894 in Paris\, France. The lighthouse gift shop will offer a variety of unique nautical gifts and souvenirs\, and the Beacon Bistro will have delicious baked goodies\, popcorn\, hot chocolate\, and s’more kits available by donation. A glowing bonfire will create a perfect atmosphere for folks to kick back\, relax and enjoy the evening. As the sky shifts from watercolor hues to deep evening blues\, visitors are welcome to bring a chair and unwind on the lighthouse grounds. \n  \nVisitors seeking an unforgettable experience can enjoy twilight tower climbs to the top of the tallest lighthouse on the Forgotten Coast. DESCRIPTION:The Crooked River Lighthouse continues its Country Farmers Market on Saturday\, April 18\, from 9 am to 1 pm ET followed by a wild weed walk from 1 – 2 pm. This outdoor market is the great chance to shop small\, shop local\, and discover unique gifts and goods while supporting area vendors\, artists\, bakers\, artisans and crafters. Carrabelle’s historic lighthouse is located at 1975 Hwy 98 West. \n  \nMarket-goers can browse a variety of locally sourced and handcrafted items. Guests will find coastal décor\, photography and art\, jewelry\, woven baskets\, totes and bags\, and keychains. Shoppers can explore organic\, farm-fresh produce and eggs\, grass-fed beef\, batch-roasted coffee\, rich local honey\, cane syrup\, and homemade seasonal jellies\, hot sauces and salsas. Visitors can also discover soaps\, candles\, natural balms and sprays\, local books\, note cards\, tumblers\, and keepsakes. Treats like artisan breads\, cinnamon rolls\, cookies\, cakes\, and candied nuts are always a favorite. \n  \nFrom 1 to 2 pm\, local herbalist Denise Williams will lead a guided wild plant walk and learning session called “Wild Food\, Wild Medicine.” Participants will enjoy a walk around the lighthouse park grounds while exploring its natural resources and how to identify common wild plants. Handouts will be provided. There is no charge for the walk\, but reservations are required by contacting the lighthouse gift shop. \n  \nThe session introduces a variety of wild foods and medicines that grow in backyards. Participants will learn how to identify\, harvest\, prepare\, and store this free food from nature. The class will cover why wild plants are beneficial to eat\, guidelines for wild crafting\, methods for preparing wild harvests\, and ways to store wild plants for future use. Denise holds a Bachelor of Science degree with a Diploma in Complementary Alternative Medicine (CAM)\, with a dual focus in Herbalism and Aromatherapy. She is also a regular vendor at the market and is well known for her natural balms and remedies made from plants and herbs. \n  \nVisitors are also invited to visit the free Keeper’s House Museum and Gift Shop\, open from 9 am to 5 pm\, featuring fascinating maritime history and the lighthouse’s historic Fresnel lens. The gift shop offers handcrafted items\, jewelry\, nautical art\, souvenirs and keepsakes. Adventurous folks can also climb to the top of the tallest lighthouse on the Forgotten Coast for a panoramic view of St. George Sound. Climb reservations are available in the gift shop or online at crookedriverlighthouse.com/full-moon-events/. \n  \nA sound bath explores the powerful vibrations of harmonic tones as a source of healing. This unique\, meditative session will be presented by The Gong Experience gongliers (gong players) Sahadev and Kasimira. The gong\, an ancient instrument\, when properly played resonates pure sound that can reach deep emotional places in a powerful and primal way. Guests are welcome to bring a chair and sit\, watch\, listen\, feel and experience this meditative event. \n  \nSahadev (Steve Brazier) and Kasimira Vogel are musicians and yogis who have devotedly studied gong techniques. They have made it their personal mission to share this special gift of healing with as many people as they can. Climb reservations are available in the gift shop or online at crookedriverlighthouse.com/full-moon-events/. \nCheryl Ploegstra is a local watercolor artist\, primarily working en plein air. Cheryl organizes a weekly plein air painting group and teaches watercolor classes. She has been involved with the Forgotten Coast en Plein Air event for the past ten years\, including as a Florida’s Finest Ambassador artist\, residency artist and past board member and event chair. DESCRIPTION:The Crooked River Lighthouse will host its 4th Annual Crooked River Park Fest on Saturday\, January 31\, in Carrabelle\, FL. From 10 am–4 pm ET\, visitors can enjoy an expanded Country “Super” Market\, a car show from 10 am–2 pm\, and a fish and nature printing activity. The celebration continues from 5–8 pm with a Park Fest Twilight at the Tower\, featuring live music by The Waterbirds\, an outdoor movie\, The Lighthouse Keepers (PG-13) and a glowing bonfire under the beauty of the Snow Moon. Tower climbs\, the Keeper’s House Museum with the 1894 Fresnel Lens\, the gift shop\, and food and desserts will be available throughout the day and evening. Daytime admission is free; Twilight at the Tower admission is $5 for the general public\, free for current members and free for kids 12 and under. Admission and climb tickets are available online at www.crookedriverlighthouse.com/full-moon-events or  in the gift shop. \n  \nThe Country “Super” Market will feature regional arts and crafts\, coastal décor\, jewelry\, bags\, organic produce and eggs\, grass-fed beef\, locally roasted coffee\, hot sauces\, soaps\, candles\, balms\, local books\, tumblers\, and baked treats such as artisan breads\, cinnamon rolls\, cookies\, and candied nuts. DESCRIPTION:The Crooked River Lighthouse will be hosting a very special Blues & BBQ themed Twilight at the Tower on Friday\, December 5 from 6:00-8:00 pm ET in Carrabelle\, FL. This festive after-hours Blues & BBQ evening invites visitors to enjoy live music from the talented duo “Blues Meets Girl\,” a glowing bonfire\, and a delicious BBQ meal\, all set against the beautiful coastal backdrop. Visitors can enjoy the natural surroundings of St. George Sound and Carrabelle Beach as the golden sun sets\, the Cold Moon rises\,.and one of the longest nights of the year unfolds. \n  \nPowerful musical duo\, Blues Meets Girl\, is a collaboration of British Blues veteran Mr. Downchild and Texas born singer/songwriter Kasimira. These two bold artists weave their separate influences together to create down-home\, smokin’\, sexy blues music at its best. Listeners can feel and relate to the soulful and passionate songs\, as well as their unique renditions of the classics by Muddy Waters\, Etta James\, Big Mama Thorton\, Elmore James and more. Blues Meets Girl is bonafide Blues thru and thru. \n  \nVisitors can tour the Keeper’s House Museum and see the original\, historic Fresnel lens constructed in 1894 in Paris\, France. This unique\, outdoor festival\, best known for its awesome display of over a hundred colorful\, hanging lanterns\, lights up the night with magic and history at the 1895 maritime landmark. Special activities include amazing music and Bluegrass harmonies by the Bottom Dollar Boys\, the spectacular glow-in-the-dark performance from the Tallahassee State College Dance Company\, special evening tower climbs\, ancient craft demonstrations\, enchanting glowing lantern display\, museum displays\, gift shop\, and delicious food and desserts. Don’t miss this evening of music\, dance\, night tower climbs\, glowing lanterns and yummy food. \nCrooked River Lighthouse is excited to announce the return of the remarkably gifted and entertaining musical group\, the Bottom Dollar Boys. This group has been delighting audiences for over 40 years\, with traditional Bluegrass harmonies and mighty fine pickin’. They’ve been toilin’ in the fields of Bluegrass\, Old Country\, Gospel\, Americana with a pinch of Blues. Now they will be performing their energetic tunes under the glow of over a hundred hanging lanterns. In addition\, the talented Tallahassee State College Dance Company will dazzle guests with their superb choreography\, amazing talent and imaginative use of glow-in-the-dark props and illusions. \nOver a hundred colorful\, hanging lanterns will be on display throughout the grounds of the lighthouse park. Many of these lanterns are truly works of art and have been painstakingly hand-made by the incredible Joan Matey and other gifted local artists. John Pfund and Chris Cauthen will set up the blacksmith forge and Ken Horne will weave rope from local plant fibers as the two ancient crafts demonstrations. Delicious food will be available for purchase from a couple of food trucks and desserts from the Beacon Bistro. SUMMARY:Magical Jellyfish Lantern-Making Workshop
DESCRIPTION:The Crooked River Lighthouse will be offering one of their very popular lantern-making workshops on Friday\, November 7 from 1:00-4:00 pm ET at the Lanark Boat Club at 2364 Hwy 98 East\, Carrabelle\, FL. A wonderful volunteer\, Lisa Keith-Lucas\, will guide attendees in making the very popular Jellyfish Lanterns! These enchanting lanterns are highly admired at Lantern Fest and are fairly easy to make. \n  \nBasic materials\, instruction and hands on help will be provided at the workshop. Attendees are invited to bring any additional materials – ribbons\, beads\, tulle – they may like to really personalize their creations! Cost is $10 a person to cover the cost of materials. Participants will be able to explore their creative side and personalize their lantern to make it uniquely their own.  At the end of the workshop\, attendees will go home with their own lovely\, finished lantern. \n  \nParticipants are encouraged to bring their glowing creations back for Lantern Fest at the Crooked River Lighthouse on Saturday\, November 8 from 6-10 pm\, where the lanterns will add to the festival’s spectacular display. \n  \nSpace is limited. For this reason\, a number of Native American peoples traditionally used some variation of the name “Corn Moon” to refer to the Moon of September. DESCRIPTION:The Crooked River Lighthouse will be hosting a Moonlit Evening at the Lighthouse event on Wednesday\, July 9 from 8:00-10:00 pm ET in Carrabelle\, FL. Visitors can enjoy the gorgeous natural surroundings of St. George Sound and Carrabelle Beach under the glow of the setting sun and rising Buck Moon. \nThe full Moon in July is called the Buck Moon because the antlers of male deer (bucks) are in full-growth mode at this time. Bucks shed and regrow their antlers each year\, producing a larger and more impressive set as the years go by. (Credit: Almanac.com) \nVisitors can experience an after-hours tour of the Keeper’s House Museum and see the original\, historic Fresnel lens constructed in 1894 in Paris\, France. Guests can browse the unique nautical gifts and souvenirs in the gift shop. Attendees are welcome to bring a chair and relax under the evening sky. \nThose who wish to climb to the top of the tallest lighthouse on the Forgotten Coast can take part in evening tower climbs. From the top\, climbers will be rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of the bay\, the colors of the sunset\, and the glow of the rising moon. Evening climbs cost $10 and are scheduled at 15-minute intervals throughout the event. Due to limited availability\, climb reservations are strongly encouraged. Climbers must be at least 44 inches tall. Children under 12 climb free with ticketed adults. Advance tickets can be purchased in the lighthouse gift shop or online on our website.

Festivities include a networking social with the Carrabelle Chamber of Commerce\, plus after-hour museum tours\, and evening tower climbs. \n  \nThe evening kicks off with a Social Mixer co-hosted by the Carrabelle Chamber of Commerce and the Carrabelle Lighthouse Association from 6:00 to 7:00 PM at the Pirate Ship. In celebration of the Strawberry Moon\, guests can enjoy strawberries and cream and light refreshments while connecting with fellow members\, local leaders\, and community supporters. It’s a valuable chance to network and build relationships that support the community\, local businesses\, and organizations. Visitors can enjoy the gorgeous natural surroundings of St. George Sound and Carrabelle Beach under the glow of the sunset and rising Flower Moon. Admission is $10 and climbs are $5. Mothers get free admission and free climbs at this event in celebration of Mother’s Day. \n  \nFor this special Mother’s Day evening\, guests will be enchanted by mesmerizing “Dance of the Butterflies” performances. The event will feature Butterfly and Moth dancers\, including Tallahassee State College (TSC) dancers and the Monarch Butterfly Homeschoolers plus visits from the lighthouse’s very own ethereal Moth Lady. These performers will be surrounded by the soft glow of night-blooming moon flower lights\, creating a magical and unforgettable experience. \n  \nVisitors can experience an after-hours tour of the Keeper’s House Museum and see the exhibit of the lighthouse’s original\, historic Fresnel lens constructed in 1894 in Paris\, France. Guests can browse the unique nautical gifts and souvenirs in the gift shop. Visitors may also enjoy the glowing bonfire in the park. Bring a chair and enjoy the evening. \n  \nFor those brave souls who are bold enough to venture to the top of the tallest lighthouse on the Forgotten Coast\, evening tower climbs are scheduled at 15-minute intervals throughout the event. Climbers will be rewarded with breathtaking views of the bay. Climb reservations are strongly encouraged due to limited availability. Climbers must be at least 44 inches tall and children under 12 (FREE) with ticketed adults.
