Enjoy a wide variety of cars\, boats\, golf carts\, and motorcycles on display at Riverfront Park. The event begins at 10:00 AM and runs until 3:00 PM. \nWe welcome all types of vehicles: cars\, boats\, motorcycles\, RVs\, and golf carts. If it floats or rolls\, you can participate! Vehicle entry is $20.00\, and admission to the show is FREE. \nCome and enjoy the beautiful setting of Apalachicola Riverfront Park while viewing some classic vehicles. SUMMARY:15th Annual Apalachicola Mardi Gras Barkus Parade & Festival “Under the Sea”
DESCRIPTION:The Mystic Krewe of Salty Barkers will celebrate Mardi Gras Apalach-style on February 27-28\, 2026\, at Riverfront Park in Apalachicola\, FL. This beloved coastal tradition features a lively street festival and the 15th Annual Mardi Gras Barkus Parade\, a parade of costumed dogs and their people. Guests are invited to dive into the fun in festive costumes\, creative floats\, wagging tails\, and plenty of local flair. All sea lovers and their loyal sea pups are invited to swim by and enjoy this fintastic ocean adventure. \n  \nThe 2026 theme is “Under the Sea.” Pups and their people will don costumes inspired by the wonders of the deep blue sea\, a magical ocean realm ruled by dogs. The streets will be swimming with majestic mer-dogs\, sea royalty\, pirate and their ships\, shimmering fish\, daring divers\, and maybe even a sea monster or two. The creativity and splashy spirit guests bring to this magical underwater spectacle will be a sight to see. \nThe festival kicks off with fun and frivolity on Friday\, February 27\, from 12 to 6 pm ET with the Fido-Do (a Salty Barker twist on a fais do-do). This old-fashioned Mardi Gras street event will feature live music and entertainment and of course delicious food and drinks. Participants are invited to bring their golf carts and decorate them for Saturday’s parade and stay for the new Sundown Celebration. \nOn Saturday\, February 28\, the festival continues from 10:30  to 4 pm at Riverfront Park. Guests will enjoy over 40 vendors offering a variety of food\, arts\, and crafts\, live music\, a beer and wine garden with local craft brews\, and of course the Pet Parade. Additional highlights include street entertainment\, pet and family photos\, pet adoptions through the Franklin County Humane Society and animal ambassadors from the Florida Wild Mammal Association. Other non-profit exhibitors will also be present\, along with T-shirts and Mardi Gras merchandise for purchase. \nThe 15th Annual Barkus Parade\, the big splash of the weekend\, starts at 1 pm on Saturday. The parade of decorated golf carts\, boats\, floats\, and costumed walkers – both the four-legged and two-legged kind will make waves at Riverfront Park\, wind through town\, and end back at the park to continue the raucous fun. Registration for the parade is $5 for walkers\, $25 for golf carts\, and $50 for floats. Canine companions\, of course\, are free. \n  \nMore than just fun\, this celebration is also a fundraiser for local animal rescue organizations. The Mystic Krewe of Salty Barkers donates all proceeds to help animals in need across the Forgotten Coast. SUMMARY:Apalachicola Oyster Cook-Off
DESCRIPTION:The 2026 Apalachicola Oyster Cook-off is the 16th annual event and the primary fundraiser for the Apalachicola Volunteer Fire Department.  The cook-off attracts area chefs and homegrown locals competing with their prized oyster-based recipes.  If you love to prepare oysters\, we’d love to have you show off your favorite dish! Bring on your oyster stew\, oysters Rockefeller\, oyster casserole\, baked oysters\, margarita oysters\, oyster shooters\, the possibilities are endless! \n  \nThis is the 16th annual Oyster Cook-off\, held on the Saturday before Martin Luther King Jr. Day in downtown Historic Apalachicola at the lovely Riverfront Park.  The event is based at the Apalachicola Center for History\, Culture and Arts and the Riverfront Park at 86 Water Street.  Saturday’s festivities kick off at 8am with a 5K run through historic Apalach\, then start up again from 12:00pm-5:00pm with judging of contestants’ oyster dishes\, children’s activities\, fire fighter demonstrations and live blues music by the John Sutton Band.  Several types of seafood will be offered for sale such as fried\, baked\, and raw oysters\, oyster stew\, fresh shrimp and more! \n  \n“I invite everyone to enter their favorite oyster recipe or just come to enjoy some fresh Apalachicola Bay seafood\, live music and small town camaraderie.” says event organizer Marisa Getter. \n  \nThe Apalachicola Oyster Cook-off was started in 2010 by a group of concerned citizens wanting to raise money for the Apalachicola Volunteer Fire Department.  They saw the department’s need for additional funds to help purchase a new fire truck\, improved firefighting equipment and additional training for its volunteers.  The fundraising board has assisted the department in all of those endeavors\, which have led to the Department improving their insurance “ISO” score to the best rating yet.  In 2025\, we have  sponsored training and equipment for FOUR of our volunteer fire fighters\, thanks to generous donations from our local sponsors and visitors to the Oyster Cookoff! \n  \nMore information about the Apalachicola Oyster Cook-off is available online at www.oystercookoff.com or on Facebook at Apalachicola Oyster Cook-Off.

As we all know\, this is an important event for the businesses of Apalachicola and the surrounding areas. We accepted the task\, and now we are in year three\, and we need your support. \nWe are currently in the event’s planning stages and are working hard to ensure it is a fantastic event on Thursday\, July 3rd\, 2025. Please consider sponsoring this event so we can keep this long-standing tradition going for years to come. With all proceeds going toward the event\, we are confident this event will be better and better each year. We are planning to start at 4:00 pm on July 3rd at Riverfront Park\, and there will be concerts and events during the afternoon with some great local food options\, many of them not-for-profit organizations available at the Park. DESCRIPTION:The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office\, in collaboration with the Franklin County School Track Team\, is excited to announce our inaugural 5K event titled “Honoring The Brave.” This event will take place on Memorial Day Weekend\, Saturday\, May 24\, 2025\, in Apalachicola.\n\nWe are eager to work with these young athletes to create a fun and meaningful way to commemorate Memorial Day while raising funds for the youth in our county. The net proceeds from this event will directly benefit the track team and support potential youth events sponsored by the Sheriff’s Office.  All participants will receive a finisher medal and a nice dry fit “Honoring The Brave” official race shirt.\n\nFunds will be processed through our Charity Fund\, so sponsorships or registrations may be tax-deductible.\n\nIf you have any questions\, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
