SUMMARY:Vintage Office - Relics from City Hall's Past
DESCRIPTION:The Carrabelle History Museum is pleased to share a special display\, “Vintage Office – Relics from City Hall’s Past”. This display is open now through Sunday\, June 1. This unique exhibit offers a nostalgic look into the daily workings of Carrabelle’s city government and the tools that helped keep the city running. Visitors can explore the exhibit at the Carrabelle History Museum on Wednesdays from 12 to 5 pm ET\, Thursdays through Saturdays from 10 am to 5 pm ET\, and Sundays from 12 to 5 pm ET. Admission is free\, with donations warmly welcomed. \nStep back in time and explore original artifacts from Carrabelle’s historic City Hall office. This fascinating display features an authentic 1953 Underwood Standard Typewriter used by the Assistance City Clerk Mary Mathes\, a mechanical adding machine\, official city log books\, a municipal court log from the 1940s (showing lots of charges of fighting and disorderly conduct)\, and a small black book belonging to City Clerk Charles Lee Daniels. Visitors can also see vintage receipt books\, the original city seal stamp\, and an assortment of rubber stamps once used for municipal business—each item offering a tangible link to Carrabelle’s mid-20th century administration. \nTypewriters revolutionized record keeping. Before their widespread use\, government staff painstakingly hand wrote every record. The introduction of typewriters marked a new era of efficiency and organization in municipal operations. \nWhether you’re a history buff\, longtime local\, or curious visitor\, this special exhibit brings to life the everyday workings of Carrabelle’s past and celebrates the people  and processes behind the paperwork. \nThe Carrabelle History Museum is located at 106 SE Avenue B\, in historic downtown Carrabelle\, FL. SUMMARY:Franklin County Public Libraries Celebrate the “Color Our World”  Summer Reading Program
DESCRIPTION:The 2025 Summer Reading Program will burst onto the scene on Monday\, June 16 and continue through Thursday\, July 24 at both the Eastpoint and Carrabelle Branch Libraries.The program\, sponsored by the Friends of the Franklin County Public Libraries\, will feature fun and imaginative activities and events for both kids and adults. Library programs are free and open to the public – no library card required. \n  \nThis year’s theme\, “Color Our World”\, focuses on art and creativity at the library. The program is designed to inspire and engage readers of all ages through a variety of artistic expressions. Guests are invited to celebrate every page\, paint stroke\, and performance that add a little more color to the world. \n  \nThe first week of the Summer Reading Program will be held June 16-20 at the Franklin County Public Libraries. Visitors are invited to festive Kick-off Parties on Monday\, June 16 at 11:00 AM ET at both library branches\, where they can explore the exciting lineup of upcoming events and participate in chalk art\, creative games\, and snacks. \n  \nWeek One (June 16th-20th)\n\n\, June 16 – Kickoff Parties w/ chalk art & games @11:00 am at both branches\n\, June 18 – Toddler Time: Color Sorting @ 10:30 am ET at both branches\n\, June 20 – Teen Button Making @ 10:30 am at Eastpoint and 2:30 pm at Carrabelle\n\n  \nSummer Reading is an annual program that brings children\, teens\, and families to local public libraries for reading and activities. A Summer Reading Program: \n\nencourages lifelong reading habits\,\nsupports reluctant readers with activities\,\nhelps children maintain their skills over the summer\,\ngenerates interest in the library and books\, and it being summer\,\ncan just be good fun and provide an opportunity for family time.\n\n  \nThe Summer Reading Program is sponsored by the Friends of the Franklin County Public Libraries\, a 501(c)(3) organization that supports the Franklin County Public Libraries in Eastpoint and Carrabelle\, FL.
