Summer Music Series at Margaret Key Library
June 24 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
An event every week that begins at 6:00 pm on Friday, repeating until July 29, 2022
There’s music in the air at the Apalachicola library! Beginning Friday, June 17 the library hosts a six-week Summer Music Series featuring local and area musicians. Live music will be played 6-8 p.m. every Friday in June, and July, barring Friday, July 15, when a family movie night is offered instead.
Different musicians will play classical, jazz, offer spins on popular tunes, or feature their original compositions. Light refreshments will be served, and donations are requested to help continue this service, and to assist with music outreach in the future.
The Summer Music Series is the library’s first partnership with Apalachicola’s Porch Fest, a popular Fall event where musicians play on porches around town. This year’s Porch Fest is scheduled for October 22. One of the Apalachicola Porch Fest founders, Jenny Odom, is also volunteering her time to launch ‘Music Mondays’ in the library for kids. Mondays in July from 2-3 p.m., local musicians will offer free music demonstrations, and introduce kids to different instruments. The Friends of the Library (PALS) will fundraise with Porch Fest to offer greater access to musical instruments, and music and arts education within the library.
No tickets are required for Friday evening’s live music. Gill Autrey will play classical guitar, followed by Betsy Crabb with jazz. Though the Summer Music Series is intended for adults, all ages are welcome. The lineup of musicians can be found at apalachicolalibrary.com/events.
