What a fantastic weekend we had to kick back off the fall music line up….weather be damned… Bowery Station was filled with a sunny jam inside … and on it goes…
What’s in store for you this week? Glad you asked!
Wednesday, Sept 5 – Open Mic is back up and running from 6-8ish, so tune up the guitar, banjo, spoons or tap shoes and find your way out to the areas best display of local, and developing talent. All levels of talent are always welcomed and appreciated so long as you bring a smile to the stage. As you may recall, tips for performers for Open Mic always go to a great cause, this month once again we will be splitting them between our friends Janine Gedmin and Anita Grove on their quest to raise sponsorship for Rivertrek, a 104 mile kayak trip down the Apalachicola in October that benefits the Apalachicola Riverkeeper! This is in correlation with a great fundraiser we have planned on Sunday, Sept 16 featuring Bingo, fantastic prizes and great area musicians.
Thursday, Sept 6 – Shaken and Stirred take the stage to make Thursdays the New Fridays from 6-9pm. Carol Harris and Randy Mims join forces with a variety of instruments and take us on a tour of almost every genre of music. These two have been making great music for years on the Forgotten Coast, and when they team up it is always a great show.
Friday, Sept 7 – The Bo Spring Band is back in Apalachicola to light up a Friday night from 7-10pm. Known for their energetic, dance inducing performances, this foursome offers up a talent level that is unparalleled and that is the perfect fit for the Bowery Station stage. Always an area draw, both for their well known originals, along with their renditions of your favorite covers…it’s always a roof raisin’ show, and a do not miss evening.
Saturday, Sept 8 – Real Rob returns to Bowery Station for a daytime performance from 3-5:30pm. Rob is a Jazz, Blues and Folk musician currently based out of New Orleans and we are pleased to have found a spot for him on his travels through this area of the panhandle. Then, please keep you hands and feet inside the launch vehicle as the Jerry Thigpen Trio is back from their Northeast Tour and are ready to hit the BS stage with their hard hitting blues and rock n’ roll from 6:30-9:30pm. It’s difficult to find three more talented musicians that play so tight, and fill the room with as much enthusiasm as these three. Their love of performing permeates the crowd, and always has the joint jumpin’!
Sunday, Sept 9 – Booooooooooooo! Boo Radley brings their New 850 Americana show to Apalach for an evening from 5:30-8:30pm. Showcasing some of the best original songwriting in the region, Patty and Michael offer up impeccable vocal harmonies backed by Michael’s masterful guitar. A BS and Apalach favorite, Boo Radley make for a great way to spend a casual Sunday evening, in a venue that was built for Booooooo!
So much to look forward to going forward into the fall, The Rivertrek Bingo and Music Fundraiser, our Bonnie Raitt Tribute, ApalachOktoberfest 2018, our Jimmy Buffet Tribute to benefit the Friends of St. Vincent Island… and much much more.
