“Translating the language of life” Lecture
Most organisms on Earth have neither eyes nor ears and so must decide to run from, eat, or mate with things nearby based on chemical cues. Dr. Mark Hay (Georgia Tech) will discuss how understanding, translating, and using this chemical cross-talk among marine species can provide new and powerful options for curing degradation in marine systems. Looking for summer fun for the whole family? Check out our Evening at the Edge of the Sea Workshops! Each workshop at the FSU Marine Lab east of Carrabelle includes a walk along the tidal flats with marine lab staff to learn about the fascinating marine creatures. $15 per workshop.
